Chico California Photographer: Fridays with Katelyn- 9th Anniversary Special!

This week I celebrated 9 years of marriage to my husband Jameson! Gosh, I seriously do not even know how it’s been that long! As soon as we had ryden 5years ago, time seemed to speed up even more and here we are at 9years of marriage on June 6th and I’m so thankful. As the years go by I realize more and more how we were just babies when we got married. We are now in our 30’s and got married in our early 20’s. To say you change a lot in those years is a understatement! The thing that I’ve been really reflecting on is how much change has happened in those years andΒ  how important it is to change and grow TOGETHER. Change at every stage of life is inevitable, but choosing to grow and change along side of each other is truly soooo important. If you were to ask my hubby or I we would both say how we are definitely NOT the same people we were 11years ago when we started dating. We are not the same, we have changed and grown and I’m happy to say I like the people we are today more. And I’m thankful for that!

As cliche as it is to say, I have absolutely fallen more in love with my husband each year and each year has truly gotten better and better. Not to say we haven’t hadΒ  hard seasons and seasons of growth, but the good times amazing memories we’ve made along the way FAR out way the hard times! And I wouldn’t trade the hard times for anything, because only amazing growth has happened from those times.

For this weeks ‘fridays with katelyn’, I thought it was the perfect time to share 9 things you may not know about my hubby & I in honor of our 9year anniversary! So here we go! Hope you enjoy πŸ˜‰

1.) My hubby & I “officially” briefly met when I was 16 at a youth group event… but then “met” again when I was 19 at a evening softball game at 20th street park

2.) He was one of my best guy friends for over a year before I began to see him as more. Although if you ask him for him it was more of a love a first sight thing, so the fact that it took me over a year to come around was not the easiest for him to say the least, ha!

3.) We got engaged after just 10months of dating! For us when you know you know was SO true. And because we had know each other for a few years before we dated, when we started dating it didn’t take long for us to know that this was IT.

4.) Our first date was at our favorite dinner place at the time, the Black Crow. Sadly no longer in chico πŸ™ At our first date I remember being so nervous that I thought if things ever got weird, I would ask him the question, “so tell me something I don’t know about you”, haha. I still remember what story he told me and I love it. Now as a joke when we go out to a nice dinner date, I’ll lean over and say, “so tell me something I don’t know about you”! Which is quite humorous because after 9years of marriage we’ve told each other pretty much ever childhood story there is to tell! πŸ˜‰

5.) One of our favorite things to do when we were dating was binge watch netflix series and our fav at the time was smallville, haha. Oh the good old dating days! πŸ˜‰

6.) My sweet hubby completely surprised me when he proposed to me at sunset overlooking california park lake and then took me on a canoe ride around the lake and ended it with a steak dinner. I’m sure I’ll be sharing more on this later! πŸ˜‰

7.) We moved 5times in our first 7years of marriage…and I am so thankful to have finally found our amazing little 1948 home in the country to raise our babies in for good.

8.) Our beautiful wedding took place at The Palms (when it had first opened and was the “new” place that no one else had really gotten married at yet!) on a 80degree June day and it was perfect. Such a magical, amazing day and will forever been one of the best days of my life! More on this later I’m sure..

9.) Our most favorite thing to do is to spend family days just the 3 of us being outside and just be together. We could honestly be doing anything, as long as I’m with my boys my heart is full and I’m at home <3

Thanks for reading friends!!! Hope you learned a thing or two you maybe didn’t know before πŸ˜‰

xoxo,

katelyn
